How to apply to universities in Canada? How is the application process going? Read our guide, which explains the application steps step by step…
How to apply?
Canada does not have a central application system like the “Common Application” in the USA or the “UCAS” in the UK, so you should apply directly to the school you are interested in. Remember, each city and region in Canada was separately responsible for the education system in its field. However, you can also find a system that allows you to collectively apply to universities only in that city , such as the “ Ontario University Application Center ” – “Ontario University Application Center” in Ontario. Each university has entry requirements that you should check carefully before applying. Even if you do not apply through a system such as OUAC, you can also apply online through the university’s website.
Application process
If you want to start your education in September, you must have learned the requirements and be ready to apply before the applications are opened. Especially if you know which school you will attend or which department you will study, you should start your research even earlier to be sure about this.
Application deadlines are usually January/February. You should have received a reply about your application result by the spring at the latest. However, some universities start the evaluations as soon as the applications start, while some universities wait until the application deadline and then start the evaluations. The application method in the second figure is preferred in terms of giving you a period of 7 weeks for your application to be processed.
After you have been offered a letter of acceptance, you are given a certain amount of time to approve the offer. (This date will be stated in your acceptance letter.)
After receiving an offer from a university, you can apply for a student permit.
When researching application deadlines, pay particular attention to the application deadlines of the course you are applying for. (Because, application dates may be different depending on factors such as density / competition etc. in the region and university you are applying to.)
What documents do you need to apply?
An important part of applying to universities in the UK and the USA, your personal information is not always required in Canada. Some universities may only require Academic and English language transcripts. Depending on your nationality, you may also need to obtain a medical certificate from a registered health institution. However, this is generally not something that is needed or desired.
Application cost
Many applications charge a non-refundable fee of approximately CAD 50 to $100. However, it will be much easier and more economical to make multiple applications through a system such as the “Ontario University Application Center”. In this way, you will be able to set aside the application fee you will pay to almost 3 universities for accommodation, and you will make your applications much cheaper.
